What is the NCAA?
The NCAA is an organization dedicated to college athletes’ well-being and success. The NCAA comprises several member schools that award nearly $3.5 billion in athletic scholarships each year and provide extensive support to help student-athletes graduate.
The NCAA consists of three divisions.
Division I
generally has the largest student body, the largest athletics budgets, and the most athletic scholarships.
Division II
emphasizes academic achievement and community service.
Division II
maintains participation in competitive athletics while still emphasizing academic excellence.

What does NCAA-approved mean?
NCAA schools require college-bound student-athletes to build a strong foundation of high school courses to prepare for college academic expectations. KYVA, which the NCAA recognizes, offers high school courses that count toward the 16 NCAA-approved courses required to become a college athlete.
Student-athletes must also graduate from high school and earn a minimum GPA.
